1. Agreement
These Terms of Use ("Terms") apply to your use of the Docshar website at docshar.vercel.app, including its PDF tools, PDF editor and AI features (together, the "Service"). The Service is run by its founders, Shagun Badsar and Harsh Kumar, from Gurugram, Haryana, India ("Docshar", "we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. The service
Docshar offers online tools to convert, compress, merge, split, organise, edit, sign and protect PDF files, and optional AI features. You can use the tools free of charge, without an account, within the free limits. Optional paid plans give you more operations and larger limits (see section 9 and the Pricing page). Files are processed in your web browser and are not uploaded to our servers. AI features have a free daily allowance (currently up to 20 requests per day per browser, plus a server-side limit per visitor).
We may add, change or remove features, free limits or tools at any time, including temporarily stopping the Service for maintenance. Section 9.9 explains how we treat plans you have already bought.
3. Who can use Docshar
You must be able to enter into a binding contract under Indian law to accept these Terms. If you are under 18, you may use Docshar only with the consent and supervision of a parent or lawful guardian, who accepts these Terms on your behalf.
4. Your files
- You keep ownership. You keep all rights in the files you process and in the results. We claim no ownership of your content.
- You are responsible for your content. You confirm that you have the right to use, change and convert the files you open in Docshar.
- Keep your own copies. Because files are processed on your device and not stored by us, we cannot recover a file or result for you. Always keep your original file and check results before relying on them.
- AI requests: when you use an AI feature, you allow us to send your request and, where needed, your document's text to our AI provider (Google Gemini) only to produce the answer, as described in the Privacy Policy.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- create, edit or share content that is illegal, fraudulent, defamatory, obscene, or that harms children;
- infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights;
- forge or alter documents, signatures or official records in order to deceive anyone, or to impersonate another person;
- remove passwords or restrictions from PDFs that you do not own or are not authorised to open;
- misuse the AI features, for example by trying to get around the daily limits, sending automated or bulk requests, or trying to make the AI produce harmful or illegal content;
- use bots, scripts or other automated means to access the Service in a way that puts unreasonable load on it;
- attack the Service, for example by probing for vulnerabilities, interfering with its operation, overloading it or spreading malware; or
- break any applicable law, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under it.
6. AI features
AI answers, summaries, edits and suggestions are generated automatically by Google Gemini and may be incomplete, out of date or simply wrong. Always check AI output against your document before you rely on it or share it, especially for legal, financial, medical, tax or official purposes. AI output is not professional advice. You are responsible for how you use it. Please do not use AI features with documents that contain sensitive personal information.
7. Our content
The Docshar name, logo, website design, text (including these guides) and our own code belong to the founders or their licensors. You may not copy or reuse them, other than for normal use of the Service, without our permission. Docshar also uses open-source software, which is covered by its own licences.
8. Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party services such as Google Gemini, Google AdSense (for advertising), Vercel, Neon (including Neon Auth for accounts), Razorpay (for payments) and jsDelivr, and your browser's own features (such as speech recognition). We are not responsible for third-party services, their availability or their terms. Links to other websites or advertisements are provided for convenience and support only.
9. Plans, payments and usage limits
9.1 Plans
Docshar offers a free plan and four paid plans: Single Use (₹9), Daily Pass (₹19), Monthly Pass (₹199) and Yearly Pass (₹1,499). The current prices, allowances and limits of every plan are listed on the Pricing page and are shown again before you pay. The Pricing page forms part of these Terms.
9.2 One-time purchases, no auto-renewal
Every paid plan is a one-time purchase. Nothing renews automatically, we do not store a payment method to charge you again, and you will never be charged without choosing and paying for a plan yourself. When a plan ends, your account simply returns to the free plan.
9.3 Validity and credit expiry
- Single Use gives one credit, which can be used for one operation. A credit expires 365 days after purchase if it is not used. Credits do not expire when a pass ends.
- Daily Pass is valid for 24 hours, Monthly Pass for 30 days and Yearly Pass for 365 days, each counted from the moment your payment is verified.
- Passes run continuously. They cannot be paused, and unused time or operations do not carry over after a pass ends.
- If you buy a pass of the same kind while one is still active, the new pass starts when the current one ends, so your time is extended rather than lost. If you hold passes of different kinds at the same time, the higher plan applies and the lower one keeps running in the background.
9.4 What counts as an operation
One run of a tool (one job) is one operation, however many pages it has. Merging several files into one PDF is one operation. Exporting or downloading an edited PDF from the editor is one operation. When Docshar AI sets up a plan with several tool steps, each step that runs a tool is one operation. Previews, page navigation and downloading again a result you have already made are free. If a job fails, the operation is given back. Daily allowances reset at midnight India Standard Time (IST). The Daily Pass has one allowance for its whole 24 hours.
9.5 Fair-use allowances and limits
Each plan has a number of operations and limits on file size, pages per PDF, files and total size per merge, OCR pages per operation and batch processing, as listed on the Pricing page. These allowances are generous but not unlimited, and they are enforced: a job that is bigger than your plan allows, or that would go over your allowance, will not run until you choose a plan that covers it or your allowance resets. Plans are for one person's normal use. You may not share an account, resell access, or use scripts, multiple accounts or other tricks to get around the limits. Docshar AI has its own daily allowance, which paid plans do not change.
9.6 Accounts
You need a Docshar account to buy and use a paid plan. Plans belong to the account that bought them and cannot be transferred to another account or person. Keep your sign-in details secure and tell us through our Contact page if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for activity on your account.
9.7 Payments, prices and taxes
- Payments are processed by Razorpay. By paying you also accept Razorpay's terms for the payment. A plan is activated only after Razorpay confirms the payment to us.
- Prices are in Indian rupees (INR). The price shown at checkout is the total amount you are charged by Docshar. Your bank or payment provider may apply its own charges, such as currency conversion fees for cards issued outside India. If we are ever required to charge a tax such as GST, we will show it before you pay.
- We may change prices or plans in the future. A change never affects a purchase you have already made: you keep the price, validity, allowance and limits shown when you bought it.
9.8 Refunds and cancellation
Because nothing renews, there is nothing to cancel. Refunds, including for duplicate charges, failed activations and unused purchases, are covered by our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
9.9 Changes to the Service and plans you have bought
If we change the Service in a way that substantially reduces what an active plan you bought provides, or we stop offering the Service, we will refund the unused part of that plan in proportion to the time or credits left, unless the change is needed for legal or security reasons outside our control, in which case we will still try to offer a fair remedy.
9.10 Abuse, fraud and chargebacks
We may suspend an account, or revoke passes and credits without a refund, if the account breaks these Terms, for example by sharing the account, getting around limits or using a stolen payment method. If you raise a chargeback or payment dispute, the plan bought with that payment is suspended while the dispute is open, and is revoked if the payment is reversed. Please contact us first: most payment problems can be fixed quickly by email.
10. No warranty
The Service, including paid plans, is provided "as is" and "as available". A paid plan buys you a larger allowance and higher limits, not a particular result. To the extent permitted by law, we make no promises or warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, that results (such as compressed sizes, conversions, OCR text or AI output) will be accurate or suitable for a particular purpose, or that a particular file will be accepted by any website, office or authority.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Indian law, Docshar and its founders will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, files, profits, business or opportunity, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service, even if we were told such loss was possible. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the higher of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and ₹1,000 (one thousand rupees). Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
12. Indemnity
You agree to compensate Docshar and its founders for any claims, losses or costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service, including content you process with it.
13. Suspension
We may block or limit access to the Service, or to the AI features, or suspend an account, for anyone who breaks these Terms or misuses the Service, without prior notice where necessary to protect the Service or other users. Section 9.10 explains what happens to paid plans in cases of abuse, fraud or chargebacks. If we suspend an account by mistake, we will restore it and extend any affected pass by the time lost. You can stop using Docshar at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account as described in the Privacy Policy.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date shows when they last changed. If you continue to use the Service after a change takes effect, the updated Terms apply. Significant changes will be announced on the website.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to applicable law, the courts at Gurugram, Haryana, India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service. Before going to court, please contact us so we can try to resolve the issue informally.
