Cut one PDF into several smaller PDFs. Choose your own page ranges, make one file per page, or split into equal parts of N pages.

How to use Split PDF

  1. Choose the PDF you want to split.
  2. Pick a split mode: Custom ranges, Every page, or Every N pages.
  3. Enter page ranges such as 1-3, 4-6, 7- or the number of pages per file.
  4. Click Split PDF.
  5. Download each file, or download them all as a ZIP.

What it does

  • Custom ranges: one new PDF for each range you type, separated by commas.
  • Open-ended ranges: "7-" means page 7 to the last page.
  • Every page mode creates one PDF per page.
  • Every N pages mode splits the document into parts of equal length.
  • Pages are copied as they are, so text and images are not converted or re-rendered.
  • Output files are named after the original with their page numbers, for example report_pages-1-3.pdf.

Good to know

  • Works on one PDF at a time.
  • Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first with the Unlock PDF tool.

Your files and privacy

Your PDF is split inside your browser and is not uploaded to Docshar's server. If you are signed in, Docshar counts your operations (tool, number of files, sizes and page counts), never the file contents. See the Privacy Policy.

Questions

How do I write the page ranges?

Separate ranges with commas, for example 1-3, 4-6, 7-. A single number like 5 makes a one-page file, and a range ending in a dash runs to the last page.

Can I save every page as its own PDF?

Yes. Choose the Every page mode and each page becomes a separate PDF file.

Does splitting lower the quality?

No. Pages are copied into the new files without converting them to images.
