What Docshar is
Docshar is a free website for working with PDF files. It has 36 tools to convert, compress, merge, split, organise, sign and protect PDFs, plus a full PDF editor where you can change existing text, add text and images, highlight, draw and sign. There is nothing to install and no account needed: open a tool, pick your file and download the result.
The tools are free to use every day within generous free limits. Docshar is supported by non-intrusive advertisements through Google AdSense and optional one-time passes for users who need batch processing or higher allowances. Nothing renews automatically. See Pricing for the details.
We built Docshar for the everyday moments when a document gets in your way: a form that will only accept a PDF under 200 KB, a scanned page that needs to be searchable, a contract that needs a signature tonight, or ten photos that need to become one PDF.
Privacy first: your files stay on your device
Most online PDF tools upload your file to their servers. Docshar does not. Every tool and the editor run inside your web browser, so your PDF is opened, changed and saved on your own device. Your files are never uploaded to Docshar's servers. This makes Docshar fast, and it means personal documents such as ID scans, bank statements or certificates are not sitting on someone else's computer.
Docshar AI, when you want it
Docshar also has optional AI features. You can tell the command bar what you need ("compress to 1 MB", "merge and add page numbers") and it sets up the right tools for you. In the editor, the "Ask AI" panel can summarise a document, answer questions about it, and help you rewrite or change text. AI is powered by Google Gemini, so when you use it, your request and, for chat and edits, the text of your document are sent to Google to produce the answer. We ask for your permission first, and everyone gets free AI requests every day. You can read the details in our Privacy Policy.
Who we are
Docshar was started by Shagun Badsar and Harsh Kumar, from Gurugram, Haryana, India. Docshar is not a big company; it is a project by two founders with a simple mission: solving real-world problems. Fighting with PDFs is one of those problems that almost everyone runs into, whether for college admissions, job applications, government forms or office work, so that is where we started.
