Deskew a Scanned PDF

Automatically straighten crooked scanned PDF pages.

Drop your file here

Fix scanned pages that came out slightly tilted. Docshar measures the angle of the text lines on each page and rotates crooked pages back to straight.

How to use Deskew PDF

  1. Choose or drop a scanned PDF.
  2. Pick the output quality: Standard (150 DPI) or High (200 DPI).
  3. Click Straighten pages and wait while each page is checked.
  4. Download the straightened PDF.

What it does

  • Automatic tilt detection on every page, with no angle to enter.
  • Pages that are already straight are copied unchanged, keeping their original quality and text.
  • Tells you how many pages were straightened and the largest correction.
  • If no page needs fixing, the original file is returned unchanged.

Good to know

  • Straightened pages are rebuilt as JPEG images, so any selectable text on those pages becomes part of the image. Run OCR afterwards to make them searchable.
  • It corrects tilts of up to about 5 degrees. Pages turned sideways or upside down need the Rotate tool.
  • Detection relies on lines of text, so pages with little or no text may not be corrected.

Your files and privacy

The pages are analysed and straightened in your browser, and the PDF is not uploaded to Docshar's server. If you are signed in, Docshar counts your operations (tool, number of files, sizes and page counts), never the file contents. See the Privacy Policy.

Questions

Will deskewing change pages that are already straight?

No. Pages with a tilt below 0.2 degrees are treated as straight and copied into the new file unchanged.

Can I search the text after deskewing?

Straightened pages are images. Run the OCR tool on the result to add a searchable text layer.
